Summer Camp:

Husky Camp is a wonderful experience for our youth. Our Rec Director also runs and coordinates camp and its home is the Brownfield Community Center. This is a day camp that includes sports of all kinds, arts and crafts, coordinates with swimming lessons, includes field trips, themed dress and learning weeks, hikes and more; our goal is to provide enough structure but still let kids be kids.

This is an eight week program but runs in sessions of two week blocks. We work hard to provide additional care in the morning and afternoon to help with work schedules. We offer a CIT (counselor in training) program for those teens ready to get a touch of the work world but still have fun. This then allows us to reach them at another level, by giving them some responsibility, they love it and all aspire to be paid camp counselors later in life.

All counselors have passed a background check and are CPR/First aid certified. Watch for the brochure and camp signups this spring!

Swim Program:

Burnt Meadow pond is quite the place to stumble upon in the middle of summer, as our camp is down there daily and we also have free swim for residents as well as swimming lessons.

In 2007 we were introduced to a fantastic man named Maury McKinney. Maury is extremely educated, a phenomenal swimmer himself and just as equally a wonderful teacher. Maury has transformed our swim program in to a grand success. He works with us to insure the children’s maximum potential by reaching every individual need. He works with our camp program as far as scheduling and in 2008 he began a competitive swim team for all local kids to participate in.

Maury does offer private lessons at many different locations year round. We are so lucky to have him.

We will begin swim lessons at Burnt Meadow Pond on Wednesday July 15 and end on Tuesday August 4. That way we have flexibility to extend weather days
through August 7.

Tuesday June 30 will be swim lesson registration with Maury and Jess from 5-6 at the rec. All must be present for participation. Brownfield residents are FREE! non residents pay $40.00 per child.
